Tale of the Tape

Four heavyweight titles are on the line as reigning champion Andy Ruiz Jr faces challenger Anthony Joshua, this time at Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia.

The Destroyer beat AJ and caused one of the biggest upsets in heavyweight boxing history. Ruiz Jr. was seem as a big underdog despite his record and put AJ down to win by TKO in 7th.

All of this occurred from a series of back-and-forth talks and negotiations between Joshua’s team trying to get an opponent in 2018. After Dillian Whyte rejected an offer to fight Joshua, Jarrell Miller lost his boxing license and Eddie Hearn’s search for a new opponent went on. Ruiz Jr. got a deal done, and with only one month’s notice before the fight, defeated AJ.

Since that fight, Joshua got a rematch scheduled in as early as possible to avenge and claim back the title belts. Neither fighter has fought since the fight on June 1st of this year.
