Hertha Berlin vs Union Berlin

“The Berlin derby succeeds the Revierderby from last weekend as Bundesliga football made its return. This Friday night feast will be another tight match-up between Hertha and Union at the Olympiastadion. The hosts put on an impressive second half display to crush Hoffenheim, whilst Union refused get crushed by Bayern. Both these sides haven seen the ball go in both ends of the goal a lot this season. The hosts are favourites, but a score draw or draw no bet on one of these teams could be more appealing.”

A chop-and-change season for Hertha

Bruno Labbadia became the third coach of the hosts this season when Jurgen Klinsmann left the club after just 76 days in charge. The big-spenders have seen no consistency this season with the managerial changes off the field. Finishing on 28 points before the enforced break, Hertha had won just one of their last six games. However, they returned in convincing fashion.

BSC put fellow strugglers Hoffenheim to the sword in the second half, winning 3-0. Matheus Cunha’s goal was the highlight of an excellent performance for a side looking to avenge their derby defeat to Union earlier in the season. The goals have been flying in at both ends in Hertha’s last few games. After their latest win, there has been Over 2.5 Goals in each of BSC’s last six games.

A derby double for the Iron Ones?

The visitors made a solid, competitive return to Bundesliga action on Sunday. They held Bayern Munich to just 2 goals, one of those a penalty, in a 2-0 home defeat. It is a respectable scoreline on paper, however Union will hope to hit the net against their city rivals. The first goal could be significant in this tie, as they have not won this season when conceding first.

Sebastian Andersson tops the goal-scoring charts for the newly promoted club with 11. Despite only three away league wins this season, Union have scored in 10 of their 13 away fixtures. Just one away clean sheet bodes well for the hosts, who put three past Hoffenheim last week. The Iron Ones have scored the opening three goals in their last five away matches.
