Thoughts on RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund
Saturday Afternoon will bring to us a match of huge significance played between 3rd RB Leipzig and 2nd Borussia Dortmund. Both teams can not afford to lose any points in this one. The win in this clash will determine which of the two teams will most probably end up on 2nd place this season. The things in Bundesliga are yet to be a lot more heated between the clubs as there are only two game weeks remaining until the end of the season.
Despite Borussia being undefeated in H2H for four consecutive matches, they should step uncomfortably into this one. The Black and Yellows are facing the team undefeated in 13 league games so far. Moreover, the last match played between both teams has ended up as a 3-3 draw and with Leipzig’s current home advantage it’s possible to see things turn around.
The Red Bulls to give Borussia a hard time?
With Bayern being already appointed as this year’s Bundesliga champion, it has come down to clubs like Leipzig and Dortmund to settle once and for all who will end up 2nd this season. The Red Bulls have not lost a single match since Bundesliga return on 16th May. The win in this one could move them into 2nd place in the league. From that point out they will also need to win against Augsburg on 27th June to beat Borussia in standings.
Leipzig holds a most unexpected record in the league. They have the most draws (12) and the least losses (3) in Bundesliga this season. Moreover, when playing at home they lost only once in the league to… Schalke and drawn in 50% of the matches. The club should step confidently into this one. Playing with the likes of phenomenal Timo Werner (Chelsea’s newest summer transfer), Christopher Nkunku or Marcel Sabitzer should help a lot in storming the opposition’s goal. With only three points difference from their opponents, the team has a slightly lower 1.97 PPG.
Dortmund can not afford to lose!
Borussia currently being on thin ice can not afford to lose to the hosts. Defeat in this Saturday clash can cost them 2nd place in the league. Since Bundesliga return the have scored 14 goals and produced four clean sheets, which is impressive. However, in their last match, they have shocked everybody. 0-2 defeat at Signal Iduna Park against the 15th Mainz is a bit of a shocker for a top club like Borussia. The Black and Yellows need a win against RB Leipzig to secure their 2nd place this season.
Borussia’s statistics are more or less similar to Leipzig’s. They have scored 82 goals, which is three more than the opposition so far. However, when playing as visitors they are not the best at securing clean sheets. The team concedes 1.5 goals per away game. Borussia’s superstar Erling Braut Haaland has accustomed the football audience to very extraordinary performances before the league’s suspension. Scoring one, two or three goals has never been a problem for a youngster. Since Bundesliga return, the Norwegian has scored only twice in five games. Will the Borussia’s No.9 break his powerlessness and stun the audience with the remarkable performance?
