Ajax vs Chelsea: UCL Tips

Ajax vs Chelsea

Who? Ajax vs Chelsea in Group H of the UEFA Champions League Matchweek 3 Group Stages (Live on BT Sport)

Where? Johan Cruyff Arena, Amsterdam

When? 17:55 GMT, Wednesday 22nd October 2019

Matchweek 3 of the UEFA Champions League sees last season’s Europa League champions Chelsea visit Champions League Semi-Finalist Ajax in Group H at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Ajax are two for two so far in the tournament and have yet to concede. A 3-0 home win in Amsterdam against Lille and a 3-0 away victory against Valencia means maximum points for Erik Ten Hag’s side. Despite losing key players from last season, the Dutch side still seems strong as ever. Hakim Ziyech and Donny van de Beek have been impressive for Ajax so far.

For Chelsea, it has been a mixed start to life in the Champions League. The Blues currently sit on three points after a win and a defeat so far. Chelsea disappointing lost 1-0 at home to Valencia but impressively beat Lille 2-1 away from home. Youngsters Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount have been the stars of their season so far.

Team News

Ajax (11/8* to Win): Erik Ten Hag has no injury concerns. We therefore expect key players to start, including former Southampton forward Dusan Tadic alongside Hakim Ziyech, Quincy Promes, Donny van de Beek and Nicolas Tagliafico.

Chelsea (15/8* to Win): Frank Lampard is without N’golo Kante and Ross Barkley. Defenders Antonio Rudiger and Emerson are also unavailable for the Blues. Callum Hudson-Odoi could make his first Champions League start for Chelsea.

Key Players

Ajax: Hakim Ziyech (7/4* Anytime Scorer)

Chelsea: Callum Hudson-Odoi (11/4* Anytime Scorer)

This is the first time these two sides have gone face to face in their competitive histories.

Chelsea are currently on a eight game away unbeaten run in the Champions League.

Ajax are looking to win three Champions League games in a row for the first time since 2005.

Whilst Chelsea have never lost to a Dutch side, Ajax have recorded wins over English teams, including Tottenham Hotspur in last seasons Semi Final First Leg.
