Atalanta vs Manchester City

Who? Atalanta vs Manchester City in Group C of Matchweek 4 of the UEFA Champions League 2019/20

Where? San Siro, Milan

When? 20:00 GMT, Wednesday 6th November 2019

Matchweek 4 of the UEFA Champions League sees last season’s Champions League Semi-Finalists Manchester City visit Italy to face Atalanta in Group C.

The start to their Champions League campaign has been a disaster, with three defeats from three. The most disappointing defeat has to be the home game against Shakhtar Donetsk. Atalanta’s struggles contrast their league form interestingly. After the reverse fixture against Manchester City, the Italians put SEVEN past Udinese and sit 5th in Serie A. A defeat here could kill off any chances of qualification to the 3rd place Europa League play-off spot.

It’s business as usual for Manchester City in terms of results. The performances have seen the Citizens show a different side to them of late. They had to work hard and be more direct to get wins over Aston Villa and Southampton at the Etihad. In terms of the Champions League, City are cruising to a top spot finish in the group. City have won all three games, and currently have a nine-goal difference having already netted 10 times.

Team News

Atalanta (15/4* to Win): Atalanta are only without striker Duvan Zapata for this tie. The Colombian striker is out with a thigh injury. We expect fellow Colombian Luis Muriel to lead the line for Atalanta, with Slovenian Josip Ilicic supporting him.

Manchester City (8/11* to Win): Manchester City are without several players ahead of this game. Serving a suspension is Phil Foden. Leroy Sane, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Aymeric Laporte are out with knee injuries. David Silva is out with a thigh injury, and Rodri is unavailable because of a muscle injury. We expect Fernandinho to play as the makeshift centre back once again.

Key Players

Atalanta: Luis Muriel (15/8* Anytime Scorer)

Manchester City: Raheem Sterling (15/4* Two or More Scorer)

Manchester City convincingly won last time out, defeating Atalanta 5-1. Atalanta took the lead but City went through the gears and got the job done back in October. Phil Foden got sent off late on.
