Feyenoord vs Rangers
Who? Feyenoord vs Rangers in Group G of Matchweek 5 of the UEFA Europa League 2019/20.
Where? De Kuip, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
When? 17:55 GMT, Thursday 27th November 2019
A significant clash in Group G of the Europa League sees Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side head to The Netherlands to face third place Feyenoord.
Position – 3rd (as of Wednesday 27th November)
Form (UEL/League) – DLW/DWWLD
W/D/L – 1/1/2
The hosts have had an inconsistent UEL campaign so far and sit on 4 points. Feyenoord managed one win, one draw and suffered one of their two defeats against their opponents in the reverse fixture. The Scottish side won 1-0, and since then, manager Dick Advocaat has seen his side win 2-0 against surprise bottom club Porto. However, they lost 2-0 to Young Boys and disappointingly draw in the home fixture against the leaders.
GF/GA – 3:4
Advocaat has seen his side not score enough goals in the Europa League this season. Despite a fairly solid defensive effort just conceding four goals, Feyenoord have only scored in two of their four UEL matches. It has been a fairly low-scoring group as a whole, meaning a single goal more could be decisive if they can get a result against Rangers. Head-to-head records could play a big part in this group at the end of Matchweek 6.
Position – 2nd (as of Wednesday 27th November)
Form (UCL/League) – WDL/WWWWD
W/D/L – 2/1/1
The away side have had a solid Europa League campaign so far, picking up seven points. Wolves have picked up two wins, a draw and a narrow defeat under manager Steven Gerrard. The group is fairly tight with every team still with a chance to qualify after four matches played. A win in this match could mean the Glaswegians would still need a result in their final game at home to Young Boys to qualify, depending on the outcome of their game with Porto in Matchweek 5.
GF/GA – 5:3
Gerrard’s team have conceded just three goals in four UEL games. Rangers continue to push Celtic this season in the league and could join their Scottish rivals in the next round of the Europa League with a win. Gers are looking to make it out of the group of a European competition since the 2010/11 season. Aside from their last UEL game against Porto, Rangers scored every one of their goals in the first half. They have taken the lead in three of their four matches.
