Red Star Belgrade vs Tottenham Hotspur

Who? Red Star Belgrade vs Tottenham Hotspur in Group B of Matchweek 4 of the UEFA Champions League 2019/20

Where? Rajko Mitic Stadium, Belgrade

When? 20:00 GMT, Wednesday 6th November 2019

Overview

Matchweek 4 of the UEFA Champions League sees last season’s Champions League Finalists Tottenham visit Serbia to face Red Star Belgrade in Group B.

Red Star will need to use their intimidating home atmosphere to their advantage. They have a great chance to leapfrog Spurs and make a huge statement of intent. Having already played arguably the two tougher away games, they have Tottenham and Bayern at home with a bottom of the group Olympiacos away remaining. A few points against those sides could seal a place in the knockout rounds. They need to score more goals, having only scored three goals so far in the tournament this season.

For Tottenham, their league form is yet to improve, with just two wins in their last ten league games. The 7-2 abomination by Bayern Munich last month epitomises the problems within the squad and morale between players and manager. They missed out on three points against Everton after the injury of Andre Gomes marred the match. In terms of their Champions League qualification hopes, a win would cement second place with a trip away to Bayern to come.

Team News

Red Star Belgrade (15/4* to Win): Red Star are without Ghanaian Richmond Boakye. A doubt ahead of their game with Spurs is Serbian midfielder Aleksa Vukanovic. We expect former Chelsea player Marko Marin to feature, with the German bagging two assists in the competition so far.

Tottenham Hotspur (8/11* to Win): Spurs are without long-term absentee Hugo Lloris. Harry Kane will play through illness whilst Jan Vertonghen is not 100% with a muscle injury. After Sunday’s incident with Andre Gomes against Everton, we expect Heung Min Son to start because of suspension in the league.

Key Players

Red Star Belgrade: Milan Pavkov (12/5* Anytime Scorer)

Tottenham Hotspur: Dele Alli (23/10* Anytime Scorer)

Head-To-Head

Tottenham convincingly won last time out, defeating Red Star 5-0 in a period of bad form which has continued since that game in October.
