Tottenham Hotspur vs Bayern Munich
Who? Tottenham Hotspur vs Munich in Matchweek 2 of the UEFA Champions League (Live on BT Sport)
Where? Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London
When? 20:00 GMT, Tuesday 1st October 2019
One of the most eye-catching fixtures on Tuesday in the Champions League sees Spurs host German champions Bayern Munich.
Speculation regarding troubles in the squad at Tottenham seem to overshadow this fixture. Defender Jan Vertonghen is yet to sign a new deal alongside Christian Eriksen. League form is below standard and in the Champions League, Spurs lost a 2 goal lead to draw last time against Olympiakos in Matchweek 1. Can Mauricio Pochettino turn it around?
Bayern are returning to England and hoping to return to Munich with three more points. Munich can add to their three points gained so far in a steady 3-0 win against Red Star Belgrade in Matchweek 1. The German giants are going strong as usual in the Bundesliga going unbeaten in six games. Will ex-Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho roll back the years and star in England again?
Tottenham Hotspur: Mauricio Pochettino is without summer signings Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon but have both Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen available
Bayern Munich: Niko Kovač is without young striker Jan Fiete Arp, whilst doubts are over midfielder Leon Goretzka and Ivan Perisic. We expect Philippe Coutinho to start alongside the likes of former Arsenal player Serge Gnabry.
Tottenham Hotspur: Harry Winks
The England international is continually improving and impressing for club and country. Winks can keep the ball well and progress attacks from the midfield position with his excellent dribbling ability and vision. He can test himself in the middle park battle against an experienced and talented Bayern Munich midfield.
Bayern Munich: Philippe Coutinho
The Brazilian already supplied four goals in three games for Bayern this season. In the last two Bundesliga matches, he has won the Man of The Match award for some great performances. During his Liverpool days, Coutinho has netted twice against Spurs and if he shows any signs of his current form, he could add to that record.
Having played in the pre-season this season, both sides had to use penalties to decide a winner. Spurs edged Bayern after the game finished 2-2 in regular time.
Before then however, the sides have not met competitively since the 1983-84 UEFA CUp when Spurs won 2-0 at home.
