Grand Slam of Darts 2019 – Thursday Tips

Grand Slam of Darts 2019 – Thursday 94th November Preview + Tips

Who? 8 players in the Round of 16 stages of the tournament in a ‘First to 10 Legs’ format to advance to the Quarter Finals

Where? Wolverhampton, England

When? 19:15 GMT, Thursday 14th November 2019 (Live on Sky Sports)

James Wade vs Adrian Lewis

Both have won many titles over the years. James Wade had a World Series Finals and European Championship to his name last year alone. The Machine has also been excellent in the Premier League this year. For Adrian Lewis, his search for a major title goes on. The two PDC World Championships achieved in 2011 and 2012 saw his stock rise and he has never hit those heights since. A win here for Jackpot could be massive going forward, even if it means meeting Michael van Gerwen in the Quarter Finals. We can see Wade edging this however, in a close-fought battle.

James Wade Match Winner – 4/7*

Gerwyn Price vs Darren Webster

What a magnificent comeback it was by Darren Webster to beat the already-advancing Gary Anderson. The Demolition Man needed two legs against the Flying Scotsman to progress, and he showed us how much it meant to him when he got them. He will have to be at his best though if he wants to get past his next opponent. Reigning champion Gerwyn Price is playing remarkable and continued his strong form from last year into this year. The World Number 5 has beaten Robert Thornton and Dimitri van den Bergh, and we see him progressing against Webster.

Gerwyn Price Match Winner – 1/4*

Michael van Gerwen vs Ian White

A man you do not want to face in any early stages of a tournament has to be Michael van Gerwen. Especially when Ian White could have been facing Adrian Lewis, had it not been for one leg. These small margins see Diamond potentially miss out on making only his second PDC Quarter Final of the calendar year. Mighty Mike already has five title wins in eight PDC tournaments this year. The World Number 1 continues to break records and close the gap on the legacy left by Phil Taylor. We can see White holding a few legs but, inevitably, we expect van Gerwen will come through this.

Michael van Gerwen Match Winner – 1/5*

Match Total Legs Under 15.5 – 19/20*

Gary Anderson vs Robert Thornton

A Scottish showdown rounds off the night. It has been a quiet couple of years for The Thorn. Prior to this year’s Grand Slam, he had only qualified for five PDC tournaments in two years. His gradual comeback to the circuit is a positive and he will look to get back to form he showed in 2015. He faces a tough opponent, however, with World Number 4 Gary Anderson in his way. The Flying Scotsman has not had his best year, however, it has been a very injury-hit year. We can see Anderson making fourth successive Quarter Final in this tournament with couple high finishes.
