Overview

The World Series of Darts Finals return and for the first time ever, the PDC are televising this event in Amsterdam.

The tournament has a £300,000 total prize money. 24 players will battle it out for the £70,000 winners cash pot should they make it to the Final on Sunday evening.

The reigning champion of this tournament is James Wade. He is one of the top eight seeded players to feature in Saturday’s round of fixtures. They will play against the winners of Friday’s matches in the opening round.

Opening Round

  1. Wayne Jones v Jonny Clayton
  2. Ricky Evans v Ian White
  3. Kyle Anderson v Mensur Suljovic
  4. Krzysztof Ratajski v Nathan Aspinall
  5. Michael Smith v Gerwyn Price
  6. Dave Chisnall v Simon Whitlock
  7. Danny Noppert v Jeffrey de Zwaan
  8. Jermaine Wattimena v Gabriel Clemens

Wayne Jones and Jonny Clayton step up to the stage first at 18:45. Two great matchups during the round include Michael Smith and Gerwyn Price at 20:45, which prequels Dave Chisnall against Simon Whitlock at 21:15.

Second Round

  1. Michael van Gerwen v Smith/Price
  2. Peter Wright v Evans/White
  3. Rob Cross v Chisnall/Whitlock
  4. Daryl Gurney v Ratajski/Aspinall
  5. Damon Heta v K Anderson/Suljovic
  6. Raymond van Barneveld v Wattimena/Clemens
  7. Gary Anderson v Noppert/De Zwaan
  8. James Wade v Jones/Clayton

Some interesting match ups make for a great Second Round on Saturday. Michael van Gerwen will not have it easy as he will face either Michael Smith, a repeat of the 2019 PDC World Championships, or Gerwyn Price. Fan favourite Raymond van Barneveld, who has lost all five of his Masters Finals appearances, will face either Jermaine Wattimena or Gabriel Clemens.

Outright Winner Odds

Michael van Gerwen (7/5* to Win): The Dutchman will want to be ruthless in his home nation. The World number 1 suffered a Quarter Final defeat to Barney last time in this tournament, but comes into this event with huge expectations. A shock defeat to Ross Smith in the European Championships last week overshadows winning the Champions League and World Grand Prix TV Majors the previous two weeks. He has also won the two recent World Series of Darts Masters events in August.

Peter Wright (7/1* to Win): Snakebite is looking to bounce back. He suffered back-to-back defeats to van Gerwen in the Champions League. A disappointing defeat to Jeffrey de Zwaan in the European Champions followed. However, this should not overshadow his 11 wins in a row prior to the Champions League. He might save his best form for this tournament, where he will want to avenge two Finals defeats back in 2015 and 2016.

Previous Winners

Since the initiation of the World Series of Darts Finals in 2015, Michael van Gerwen won the first three consecutive finals from 2015 to 2017.

Peter Wright made the first two finals, coming up short on both occasions against Mighty Mike. Fellow Scotsman Gary Anderson also narrowly lost in the 2017 Final.

James Wade’s 11-10 win over Michael Smith last season, however, meant a new reigning champion halted the Dutchman’s dominance in Austria.
