Burton vs Leicester
Who? Burton Albion vs Leicester City in Fourth Round of the English EFL Cup 2019/20.
Where? Pirelli Stadium, Burton upon Trent
When? 19:45 GMT, Tuesday 29th October 2019
Local action in the Fourth Round of the English EFL Cup sees League One outfit Burton Albion take on high-flying Leicester City at the Pirelli Stadium for a place in the Quarter Finals.
The Brewers currently sit in 13th in League One as their inconsistent start to the season continues. Their cup form has been remarkable, however, having already completed a giant killing in the previous round. With wins over Port Vale and Morecambe in the First and Second Rounds respectively, Burton beat a very lacklustre Premier League Bournemouth 2-0. They will look to take confidence and experience from that game and games over Premier League opposition in the past, including Manchester City. The side has experience of beating the Foxes before, too.
For Leicester, they are very much on cloud nine under Brendan Rodgers. They currently 3rd on goal difference over Chelsea. The Foxes recorded the biggest away victory in Premier League history as they beat Southampton 9-0 on Friday. Their cup form has been solid and as expected so far. However, they needed penalties to scrap through a win at Newcastle United before cruising past Luton Town. With the impressive form and performances in the league, expectations are growing for the Foxes. They can’t afford to let complacency slip into the team for these types of games.
Burton Albion (17/2* to Win): Nigel Clough is to be without John Brayford and Stephen Quinn due to injury. Veteran Jake Buxton may be back in contention for the Brewers. Liam Boyce and Oliver Sarkic will look to get on the scoresheet and provide another big upset in this competition.
Leicester City (1/3* to Win): Brendan Rodgers has no injury concerns. We expect only a slight rotation in the squad as the team is entering the latter stages of the competition. We think opportunities may arise for the likes of Dennis Praet, James Justin, Danny Ward, and Demarai Gray in this game.
Leicester have faced Burton on four previous occasions in competitive matches.
The Foxes have won three out of the four ties, however Burton defeated the Foxes 4-2 in this competition back in 2012/13 at Leicester.
The most recent competitive game was over six years ago, when Leicester won 2-0 in the FA Cup at the King Power Stadium.
The other two matches both occurred back in 1985 when the two-legged FA Cup round saw Leicester comfortably advance 7-1 on aggregate.
