Liverpool vs Arsenal: EFL Cup Tips

Liverpool vs Arsenal

Who? Liverpool vs Arsenal in Fourth Round of the English EFL Cup 2019/20.

Where? Anfield, Liverpool

When? 19:30 GMT, Wednesday 30th October 2019

A big clash in the Fourth Round of the English EFL Cup sees Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal go head-to-head at Anfield for a place in the Quarter Finals.

The Reds currently sit top of the league having only dropped two points so far. Having only entered the competition in the last round, Liverpool cruised past MK Dons 2-0. Goals from the experienced James Milner and youngster Ki-Jana Hoever secured their place into the next round. The Reds continued their incredible home record having turned around a one goal deficit to defeat Tottenham on Sunday. Klopp may need to rotate his side to keep some key players fresh for the league and Champions League.

For Arsenal, they are very much on thin ice under Unai Emery. Despite sitting in fifth position in the league, the performances and results have be underwhelming for supporters. The Gunners witnessed their captain Granit Xhaka lose his head and his professionalism when being substituted to jeers and boos in the draw against Crystal Palace. Mesut Ozil is also being completely sidelined from first team football. Whilst Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 5-0 in the previous round, a positive result and performance is needed urgently. We expect Emery’s team selection to be a massive talking point surrounding this game.

Team News

Liverpool (17/20* to Win): Jurgen Klopp is likely to make some changes to the weekend game against Spurs. Joe Gomez is likely to come into the back line for Virgil van Dijk. We expect some squad players to get a start, such as Adam Lallana, Divock Origi and Naby Keita. Klopp may also have youngsters Rhian Brewster and Ki-Jana Hoever feature during the game.

Arsenal (3/1* to Win): Unai Emery has some huge decisions to make regarding his team selection. Will he give Mesut Ozil a game after the German has not been in the squad for weeks? We expect some youngsters to start, such as in-form Gabriel Martinelli and Joe Willock. Granit Xhaka may feature depending on how much Sunday’s issue has been resolved, however, he may not have the armband anymore.

Key Players

Liverpool: Divock Origi (5/1* Last Scorer)
