Lazio vs Celtic – Europa Tips

Lazio vs Celtic

Who? Lazio vs Celtic in Group E of Matchweek 4 of the UEFA Europa League 2019/20

Where? Stadio Olimpico, Rome

When? 17:55 GMT, Thursday 7th November 2019

Overview

Matchweek 4 of the UEFA Europa League sees Scottish giants Celtic visit Italy to face Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Group E.

Lazio really need a win to put themselves back in a qualifying spot for the knockout rounds. The Italian side have not had the best start to their Europa League campaign. Two away defeat to Cluj and Celtic means they sit on three points they gained from a home win over Rennes. Every game Lazio have played has ended in a 2-1 scoreline. A win for Cluj against Rennes in the other game in the group would mean the Italians would be at least four points of the pace with anything but a win against ‎The Bhoys.

For Celtic, their league dominance for several years could end this year. Whilst the Hoops sit top on 28 points, rivals Rangers have the same record with 11 league games played and sit behind on goal difference. Celtic’s European form has been strong, with seven points after three games. After back-t0-back home wins over Cluj and Lazio. The late goal from Christopher Jullien has meant the Scottish giants are in pole position to secure a place in the next round of the tournament.

Team News

Lazio (7/10* to Win): Lazio have several players who could miss out. Stefan Radu and Adam Marusic are out with injury. Key players Joaquin Correa, Felipe Caicedo and Lucas Leiva are also doubts ahead of this clash. We expect in-form forward Ciro Immobile to be the pinpoint of the Lazio frontline.

Celtic (15/4* to Win): Celtic also have a few players set to miss this important clash. Daniel Arzani, Vakoun Bayo, Jozo Simunovic and Scott Bain are unavailable to Neil Lennon. Striker Leigh Griffiths is also a doubt, but could play for The Bhoys.

Key Players

Lazio: Ciro Immobile (14/5* Two or More Scorer)

Celtic: Ryan Christie (3/1* Anytime Scorer)

Head-To-Head

Celtic snatched a late winner last time out. French defender Christopher Jullien scored the winning goal to seal a 2-1 victory at Celtic Park in October.
