Vitoria Guimaraes vs Arsenal
Who? Vitoria Guimaraes vs Arsenal in Group F of Matchweek 4 of the UEFA Europa League 2019/20
Where? Estadio D. Afonso Henriques, Guimaraes
When? 15:50 GMT, Wednesday 6th November 2019
Matchweek 4 of the UEFA Europa League sees last season’s Europa League Finalists Arsenal visit Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes in Group F.
The hosts were very unfortunate to come away from the Emirates with no points. Vitoria outplayed Arsenal for most of the game, taking a 2-1 lead before Nicolas Pepe scored back-to-back free kicks. Former Tottenham Hotspur youth prospect Marcus Edwards netted for the Portuguese side too. Despite that, Vitoria sit bottom of the group without a single point. The side have since won, draw and lose in the league before this meeting.
The pressure continues to mount on Unai Emery as his side did not win again on the weekend against Wolves. The Gunners have only won two games out of nine in all competitions. The inability to keep a lead has been a huge problem on the pitch, alongside with off-the-pitch matters with Granit Xhaka. With Leicester City away their next league fixture, these two games could be crucial for Emery to stay in the job.
Vitoria (11/5* to Win): Vitoria will be without Ghanaian Aziz because of a knee injury. Other doubts ahead of the clash include Portuguese midfielder Andre Andre and Ghanaians Henry Medarious and Alhassan Wakaso. We expect English forward Marcus Edwards to start for the side.
Arsenal (23/20* to Win): For Unai Emery, he will have to make a big call on whether to bring Granit Xhaka back into the side or freeze him out. Emery has confirmed the Swiss international is no longer the captain, but he seems to still have a future with Arsenal. His actions from the Premier League game vs Crystal Palace are still a hot topic, as the toxicity has failed to die down. We expect Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli to start.
Vitoria met with Arsenal a few weeks ago for the first time. Arsenal sealed a 3-2 comeback victory after back-to-back goals directly from free kicks by Nicolas Pepe.
