Overview
The Abu Dhabi Golf Championship returns for its 15th tournament since the inaugural tournament in 2006. Irish golfer Shane Lowry is the current reigning champion, pursing the biggest winners share in the tournament’s history of over $1m with his -18 to par score.
The tournament has a $7m purse once again this year total prize money, being part of the Rolex Series. Since it’s backed by big sponsors and organisers, the field of players has been very strong over the years, and it is no different this year.
Martin Kaymer has had the most success in this tournament, winning three times and holding the record for the best score. He shot 264, -24 to par (67-65-66-66=264), his best ever score in his career as he won comfortably by eight strokes over Rory McIlroy. One of the tournament favourites, Tommy Fleetwood, won back-to-back in 2017 and 2018.

Round 1 :
Tee times are between 03:20 and 09:25 GMT. Six players in two groups will be teeing off at the first and tenthand at the same time throughoutt the day. There are 44 groups of three players, 132 players in total who will be playing. Groups to watch out for in Round 1 include groups 13, 14 and 15.
Group 13 features Sergio Garcia, Patrick Cantley and Bernd Wieseberger, who tee off at 03:30. Group 14 features tournament favourites Brooks Koepka, two-time winner Tommy Fleetwood and reiging champion Shane Lowry, who tee off at 03:40. Following them is Group 15 featuring, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Louis Oosthuizen and three-time winer Martin Kaymer at 03:50.
Other noteable Groups include 25 and 26. Group 25 includes American Bryson DeChambeau, Sheffield’s very own Matt Fitzpatrick and Race to Dubai Number 1 ranked Branden Brace, who tee off at 08:05. In Group 26, an all-English trio in Lee Westwood, Eddie Pepperell and Ian Poulter, who shot 66 last year in the opening round despite suffering from jetlag, tee off at 08:15.
