Premier League MW21: New Year’s Day Tips

Premier League Matchweek 21: Wednesday 1st January 2020 Betting Tips

Matchweek 21 of the Premier League provides NINE games for our tips, taking place on New Year’s Day and all LIVE once again, this time on BT Sport channels.

There are two early kick offs in this Matchweek. Brighton feature in the early game once again, hosting Chelsea. The visitors have had a lot more success away from home than at Stamford Bridge. Burnley host fellow claret and blue club Aston Villa at Turf Moor in the other early game of the day. Villa’s 3-0 defeat to 10-man Watford last time out was their 12 league defeat of the season, with Norwich City only recording more (13). The 3pm kick offs include…

  • Newcastle United FC vs Leicester City FC
  • Southampton FC vs Tottenham Hotspur FC
  • Watford FC vs Wolverhampton Wanderers FC

There are four evening kick offs, three at 17:30 GMT and the other at 20:00 GMT. The 5:30pm kick offs include…

  • Manchester City FC vs Everton FC
  • Norwich City FC vs Crystal Palace FC
  • West Ham United FC vs AFC Bournemouth

The 8pm kick off features Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal looked much improved in their performance against Chelsea last time out, but still came away with another defeat. Both clubs are injury-hit, but United are heading into this game with the better form and a solid record at the Emirates.

Brighton & Hove Albion FC vs Chelsea FC (12:30 GMT — BT Sport)

Chelsea are doing well away from home and have a perfect record at the AMEX. We expect goals in this one with the way both teams play.

Match Result – Chelsea – Evs*

Correct Score – Brighton 1-3 Chelsea – 14/1*

Goals – Over 2.5 Goals – 8/11*

Goalscorer – Aaron Mooy Anytime Scorer – 9/2*

Burnley FC vs Aston Villa FC (12:30 GMT — BT Sport)

This is a significant clash for Aston Villa, who have now lost six of their last 10 Premier League games and sit in the relegation zone. We can see Burnley grabbing all three points here, however.

Match Result – Burnley – 4/5*

Correct Score – Burnley 1-0 Aston Villa – 13/2*

Goals – Under 2.5 Goals – 10/11*

Goalscorer – Chris Wood Anytime Scorer – 6/5*

Newcastle United FC vs Leicester City FC (15:00 GMT — BT Sport)

These sides rarely draw, with one draw in their last 10 league matches for both clubs. We can see the Foxes coming through with another result after rotating players last time out.

Match Result – Leicester – 4/6*

Correct Score – Newcastle 1-2 Leicester – 15/2*

Goals – Over 2.5 Goals – 19/20*

Goalscorer – Youri Tielemans Anytime Scorer – 15/4*

Southampton FC vs Tottenham Hotspur FC (15:00 GMT — BT Sport)

Danny Ings has led the Saints revival of form, netting his 12th league goal of the season last time out. Spurs are still leaking goals under Jose Mourinho, so we can see a score-draw in this one.

Match Result – Draw – 4/6*

Correct Score – Southampton 1-1 Tottenham – 15/2*

Goals – Under 2.5 Goals – 6/5*

Goalscorer – Danny Ings Anytime Scorer – 13/10*

Watford FC vs Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (15:00 GMT — BT Sport)

The Hornets look a lot more like the side we are accustomed to, but are injury-hit. Wolves are tough customers, and we can see the visitors taking this close-fought contest.

Match Result – Wolves – 13/10*

Correct Score – Watford 1-2 Wolves – 17/2*

Goals – Over 2.5 Goals – 21/20*

Goalscorer – Troy Deeney Anytime Scorer – 11/5*

Manchester City FC vs Everton FC (17:30 GMT — BT Sport)

Two coaching elites clash as Pep’s City host Ancelotti’s Everton in the Italian’s first huge test since returning to the Premier League. We expect the visitors to make it difficult, but City should eventually come through.

Match Result – Man City – 3/10*

Correct Score – Man City 2-1 Everton – 17/2*

Goals – Over 2.5 Goals – 2/5*

Goalscorer – Dominic Calvert-Lewin Anytime Scorer – 10/3*

Norwich City FC vs Crystal Palace FC (17:30 GMT — BT Sport)

A late penalty prevented the Canaries from a first win in seven matches, and the gap could get bigger from the bottom if they don’t start picking up points. We expect them to get a rare, high-scoring win with Palace’s long injury-list.

Match Result – Norwich – 7/10*

Correct Score – Norwich 3-2 Crystal Palace – 28/1*

Goals – Over 3.5 Goals – 21/10*

Goalscorer – Emi Buendia Anytime Scorer – 9/2*

West Ham United FC vs AFC Bournemouth (17:30 GMT — BT Sport)

The Hammers have a new boss, sort of, in David Moyes, who returns one year after his contract was not renewed. It might be too early for a ‘manager bounce’, but we expect the hosts to win because of the horrendous form of Bournemouth.

Match Result – West Ham – 19/20*

Correct Score – West Ham 1-0 Bournemouth – 8/1*

Goals – Under 1.5 Goals – 16/5*

Goalscorer – Angelo Ogbonna Anytime Scorer – 12/1*

Arsenal FC vs Manchester United FC (20:00 GMT — BT Sport)

The Red Devils came unstuck against Watford just like lots of bottom half teams this season. Newcastle beat them in the reverse fixture, and we can see them sharing the points in this one.

Match Result – Draw – 13/5*

Correct Score – Arsenal 3-3 Man Utd – 40/1*

Goals – Over 4.5 Goals – 7/2*

Goalscorer – Anthony Martial Anytime Scorer – 6/4*

*odds as of December 30th at 11:45 GMT and subject to change
