Who? Southampton vs Leicester City in Friday Night Football of Matchweek 10 of the Premier League (Live on Sky Sports)
Where? St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton
When? 20:00 GMT, Friday 25th October 2019
Matchweek 10 of the Premier League sees the 2016 Premier League Champions Leicester City visit the south coast to face Southampton in the latest edition of Friday Night Football.
The Saints have eight points so far in the league but have not won in four games. A 1-1 with Wolves last time out halted a three game losing streak that included a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Bournemouth in the south coast derby. On a positive note, however, Southampton have scored in every game this season after the opening day defeat to Burnley. But with just one game where they scored over one goal and only have two clean sheets, The Saints’ boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will hope for an upturn in form starting this Friday against a strong Leicester side.
For Leicester, it has been a very promising start to life in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers. They currently 3rd on goal difference over Chelsea. The Foxes can move onto 21 points and close the gap on leaders’ Liverpool with a win. A controversial 2-1 home win against Burnley means Leicester have yet to lose at home this season. They have lost twice in four away games, however, against Liverpool and Manchester United. A poor away record this season could be costly for Leicester’s European ambitions come the end of the season.
Southampton (21/10* to Win): Ralph Hasenhuttl is without Moussa Djenepo as the summer signing is returning to training from six weeks out. Full back Cedric, who was on loan at Inter last season, is out with a calf injury.
Leicester City (6/5* to Win): Brendan Rodgers has no injury concerns. James Maddison is expected to start.
Leicester have travelled well to Southampton over the years, with this fixture at Southampton resulting in two wins and a draw for each team in the Premier League.
The Foxes have won the last two times at St Mary’s by scorelines of 2-1 and 4-1.
Southampton have only beaten Leicester three times in 10 Premier League games since 2014. Twice at home and the only time away being last season 2-1.
Southampton have had a player sent off in the last two Premier League fixtures against Leicester. There has also been four red cards in games Southampton have been involved in this season.
