Thoughts on Spurs vs United
Both sides can take points off their rivals and try to secure European qualification. Man United will hope to continue their wonderful run they were on before the break while Tottenham will hope the return of some of their best players will give them a much-needed boost. In the reverse fixture, Mourinho’s first return since Man United sacked him, United won 2-1 thanks to a brace from Marcus Rashford. Both teams have frailties especially at the back and have both been on bad runs during the season. Both sides are better going forward than defending but Mourinho always sets his teams up to be solid at the back especially against a top 6 side.
Spurs still searching for a win
Spurs will hope they can start strongly with their star players returning to action. Spurs have won none of their last 6 games so will need to pick up more points before we can consider them to be serious top 4 contenders. During those last 6 games, Spurs have scored just 5 goals and conceded 11 but will hope the return of Harry Kane will change their fortune.
The North London side have a much better home record than away from home. They have 1.86 PPG at home compared to 1.00 PPG away from home but they may not have as much of an advantage at home with no fans in the ground.
United to continue unbeaten run?
Man United will hope they can continue where they left off and carry on their excellent run of results. During their 10 game unbeaten run, United have scored 28 goals and conceded just twice. However, on average Manchester United score 1.52 goals and concede 1.03 goals per match. 48% of Manchester United’s matches end with both teams scoring and their average total goals per match is 2.55.
Similarly to Tottenham they are better at home than away. They have a PPG of 1.93 at home compared to 1.14 away from home.
