Who? England vs South Africa in the Rugby World Cup Final (Live on ITV 1)
Where? Tokyo Stadium, Japan
When? 09:00 GMT, Saturday 2nd November 2019
The Final of the 2019 Rugby World Cup is here as England takes on South Africa at Tokyo Stadium in a repeat of the 2007 RWC Final in France.
England overcame the challenge on Australia in the Quarter Finals by 40-16, their second highest points total in the tournament so far. Then a Semi Final shock victory over New Zealand meant a place in the Final for the first time since 2007. Coach Eddie Jones has named an unchanged side to face South Africa in the Final. The likes of Owen Farrell, Jonny May and Kyle Sinckler were doubts but are fit for one final battle.
For South Africa, they have shown why they are still one of the best teams in the World Cup Final. The Springboks made very light work of host nation Japan with a ruthless display 26-3. They then beat Wales in the Semi Final by three points, a narrow 19-16 victory which sets up a classic with England. Coach Rassie Erasmus has made just one change ahead of their encounter with England. Cheslin Kolbe comes in for Sbu Nsoki, the player who replaced Kolbe in the Semi-Final.
It’s South Africa who have the edge over England, with the Springboks recording 25 wins compared to England’s 15.
Back in 2007, South Africa beat the Red Rose a 15-6 victory to win the World Cup in France.
England edge recent meetings between the two sides, however, as they win three wins in the last five clashes between the nations.
