4 Rome Derby Selections for your Betslip!
Whilst the FA Cup action will grab our attention this weekend, other European leagues are business as usual. Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A and La Liga matches are taking place, and there are some big clashes you do not want to miss. One of those big clashes is none other than Roma and Lazio in the Derby della Capitale.
The Rome Derby is a long rivalry between clubs AS Roma and SS Lazio. This matchup is seen as the fiercest intra-city derby in Italy, ahead of the likes of the Milan derby between AC and Inter, and the Turin derby between Juventus and Torino. Only 11 players have represented both teams in their histories.
Former Manchester City full back Aleksandar Kolarov is the most recent player to represent both clubs. He moved to City from Lazio, before ending his time in England in 2017 to join rivals Roma. Kolarov opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the reverse fixture this season, before Luis Alberto scored an equaliser in the second half to make it 1-1.

1. Lazio (5/2)
It’s a derby match. The cliche ‘neither team wants to lose’ could be the case, especially considering both want to secure Champions League spots next season. However, Lazio’s steamrolling of teams this season, particularly since October, has been nothing short of impressive.
The Eagles are within a close distance of the top two, Inter and Juventus. Roma have lost their last two league games at home against Torino and Juventus. Also, this fixture rarely ends in a draw. In fact, only two of the last 12 meetings have ended in a tie. Lazio knows how to win at the Stadio Olimpico, winning 3-1 back in 2017 and have already pulled off a win at Juventus this season, too.
2. Both Teams to Score in Both Halves (6/1)
These sides know where the net is. Only Atalanta (50) have more goals than Lazio (46), whilst Juve (39) and Inter (41) have notched in a few more than Roma (37) this season. Both clubs have at least two matches this season, where ‘Over 5.5 Goals’ went in for and against.
Lazio have turned seven draws at the break into wins, whilst both teams have turned around one match from a defeat into a win. Lazio have scored in the 80th minute or later in each of their last five Serie A away wins. These two clubs top the chart for the most penalties received, and Roma have scored three in their last four home games in all competitions.
3. Aleksandar Kolarov Anytime Scorer (11/2)
A lot of Premier League watchers knew the Serbian full back had a lethal left foot on him. Set Piece taking and long shots made up for his lack of pace, and his goal-scoring exploits have remained. The 34-year-old has netted five league goals this season and is only second top goal-scorer at the club to another former City player Edin Dzeko this season.
Roma put his penalty taking responsibilities into action in the reverse fixture and, against his former club and new rivals Lazio, he slotted home in the 17th minute to give Roma the lead. In a high-scoring game, he could repeat this feat either from the penalty spot or from a set-piece. At 11/2 to score anytime during to match, it is definitely worth considering.
4. Multibet Exact Score 0-3, 1-3, or 2-3 (3/1)
This market is really worthwhile when backing any team in any game. The Multibet Exact Score market offers selections on teams to win 1-0, 2-0, or 2-1 as well as 3-0, 3-1, or 3-2. The other options are a 1-1, 2-2, or 3-3 draw as well as an ‘Any Other score’ option. This option is for those thinking very high-scoring game is on the cards.
Lazio have produced so many impressive away wins this season. They often win by a single-margin goal. A 2-1 scoreline when playing away from home has now happened five times this season in all competitions. They can score three goals away from home though, doing so in their first away game of the season and against Juventus in the Super Cup. Since they have not kept a clean sheet away from home this season, this market provides assurance just in case they do ship a goal or two.
