Lady in Red – Slot Review

When we hear ‘Lady in Red’, we immediately think of Chris de Burgh’s 1986 chart hit of the same name.

Whilst this song may have come with more cheese than a 1980s Whopper Burger, this should not deter you from playing Microgaming’s Lady in Red slot extravaganza (although this tells a similar tale of romance on a dimly lit dance floor).

But what else does this slot offer, and why should you care? Here’s our brief review of another Microgaming hit!

Layout and Design – Play with Your Eyes Not Your Ears

This slot has provided a tongue-in-cheek nod to Chris de Burgh’s hit, with an awful soundtrack that fortunately fades into silence as you continue to play.

The visuals are rather more appealing, with the cartoon-ish lady in red dominating a classic, 5×3 reel grid that sits against the backdrop of an exposed stage.

Microgaming has also stayed true to a fixed payline structure, with 25 betways offering many chances for players to win during both the base game and the assorted bonus features.

This translates into a low-variance slot with a return-to-player (RTP) rate of 96.25%, which is sure to appeal to the casual gamers amongst you!

Rules and Symbols – What Do You Need to Know?

Before you become immersed in the romance and mystique of the Lady in Red slot game, it’s important to put your betting strategy into action!

To achieve this, you must toggle between the coin sizes and betting range. There’s something for both casual and serious gamblers here, as you can stake a minimum wager of £0.01 and a maximum bet of £125 per single spin.

The slot also features an ‘Autoplay’ feature, which enables you to play at a fixed stake amount for a predetermined number of spins and increase the pace of gameplay.

With the symbols on offer, you’ll notice traditional playing card icons including 9, 10, J, Q, K and A dotted across the reels. These represent the lowest paying icons and are likely to contribute to most your base game wins.

At the other end of the paytable sits the tumbler of whiskey, red roses by a lipstick-stained napkin and the lady in red herself, which are corny icons that unlock significant prizes!

The Lady in Red logo also serves as the game’s wild symbol, and this can substitute for all other icons during the base game (aside from the scatter, but we’ll have a little more on this later).

Payouts and Features – Don’t Make Love a Losing Game

Love can be a frustrating entity, and it’s therefore fitting that Microgaming has only included one bonus feature in the Lady of Red slot.

This takes the form of a Free Spins feature, and whilst the lack of additional bonuses may disappoint some, this round has more than enough elements to keep players engaged!

It triggers the bonus when you land three or more of the game’s camera scatters anywhere across the reels. Landing three, four or five cameras will unlock 15, 20 or 25 free spins respectively, with the latter being a relatively hefty sum by anyone’s standards!

Any wins earned during this round will see their value tripled, whilst you can re-trigger the bonus at any point by landing three more scatters!

So, whilst this simple game may not be to everyone’s tastes, it boasts an enduring charm and an interesting theme that stands apart in the market!
