UFC Fight Night Main Event: Tyron Woodley (USA) vs Gilbert Burns (Brazil)

The UFC Fight Night headliner features a huge bout for both fighter. Former Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley faces the exciting Gilbert Burns at UFC APEX in Vegas. Woodley sits as the number one contender in the Welterweight Division, whilst Burns currently sits sixth in the rankings.

Woodley (19-4-1)

Tyron Woodley is looking to get back to winning ways in his first fight of 2020. After a seven fight unbeaten streak, that included wins against Darren Till and Stephen Thompson, “The Chosen One” suffered a defeat to Karama Usman last March. Woodley has a three-inch reach advantage and is the heavier man in this bout. The 38-year-old has never lost back-to-back fights across his entire professional MMA career. His relationship with Dana White has been frosty over the years because of his fighting style. The American is the favourite to win, priced at 1/2* with Mark Jarvis.

Burns (18-3-0)

Brazilian hot-prospect Gilbert Burns got his contender wish as Woodley accepted his challenge. Burns called out the American after securing his fifth consecutive UFC victory over Demian Maia last March. “Durinho” has defeated the likes of Gunnar Nelson in that run and is undefeated since moving to 170lbs. The submission specialist has ended five of his 18 victories by Armbar and is capable of a KO with six across his MMA career. The market price of the active, pace-pushing underdog to hand Woodley back-to-back defeats is  6/4* with Mark Jarvis.

Fight Winner tip – Woodley 1/2*

UFC Fight Night Co-Main Event: Blagoy Ivanov (Bulgaria) vs Augusto Sakai (Brazil)

The co-main event sees two heavyweight prospects looking to elevate their careers further. Blagoy Ivanov takes on Augusto Sakai in an important bout for both fighters. Ivanov is 12th in the Heavyweight Division, whilst Sakai is just behind in 13th in the rankings.

Ivanov (18-3-0)

The Bulgarian is looking to bounce back from another close decision defeat in his career. He lost out to Derrick Lewis in November by split decision, ending his two-fight streak in the UFC. The submission specialist secured impressive wins over Ben Rothwell and Tai Tuivasa. Prior to his UFC debut, Ivanov secured titles in the Professional Fighters League and the World Series of Fighting. “Baga” comes into this bout as a slight underdog, but that could change if he takes this fight to the ground. You can back the Bulgarian at 10/11* to secure the victory with Mark Jarvis.

Sakai (14-1-1)

The Japanese-Brazilian is undefeated in his UFC career so far. The 28-year-old secured a win in Dana White’s Contender Series over Marcos Conrado Jr. back in 2018. He has secured impressive wins over the likes of former Heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski. Of his 14 wins in his MMA career, 11 have come by KO or TKO. As the bigger fighter at 265lbs, Sakai has a five-inch height and four-inch reach advantage on Ivanov. The slight favourite in this one, you can get Sakai to win at 17/20* with Mark Jarvis.

Fight Winner tip – Sakai 17/20*
