UFC Vegas 3 betting tips: Epic stoppages again for strong card?

UFC Vegas 3 is now the third Fight Night show to come from Vegas this weekend. We look ahead at action in the Main and Co-Mains featuring Blaydes and Volkov.

UFC Vegas 3 Main Event: Curtis Blaydes (USA) vs Alexander Volkov (Russia)

The UFC Vegas 3 Main Event features American heavyweight contender Curtis Blaydes and seasoned Russian Alexander Volkov. Blaydes enters this bout as third ranked heavyweight, whilst Volkov is 7th in the Heavyweight Division rankings.

Blaydes (13-2)

Unlike his opponent, Curtis Blaydes had a small professional career outside of the UFC before making his UFC debut in 2016. He won all five of his first five professional bouts by TKO before signing with the UFC and facing Francis Ngannou. Since that debut defeat, Blaydes has only lost once, in a rematch with Ngannou in 2018. “Razor” has defeated the likes of Alistair Overeem, Alexey Oleynik, Mark Hunt, and most recently Junior dos Santos this year. The knockout artist has only seen three of his bouts go the distance, with eight bouts ending in the second round. He is the favourite in this one, priced at 1/4* with Mark Jarvis.

Volkov (31-7)

This will be the 39th professional bout for “Drago”. Alexander Volkov’s journey to the UFC has been a lengthy one. The Russian has fought in multiple organisations since making his professional MMA debut in 2009. Like Blaydes, Volkov made his UFC defeat in 2016, however won his first bout against Timothy Johnson. That began a four-fight win streak for the 37-year-old, before being stopped by Derrick Lewis in 2018. In that run, he defeated the likes of Roy Nelson and Fabricio Werdum. The giant, at 6ft 7in tall, is the underdog heading in this bout, priced at 14/5* with Mark Jarvis.

UFC Vegas 3 Co-Main Event: Josh Emmett (USA) vs Shane Burgos (USA)

The UFC Vegas 3 Co-Main Event sees two featherweight top 10 contenders looking to climb the rankings. Josh Emmett takes on Shane Burgos in a significant bout for both fighters. Emmett is 8th in the Featherweight Division, whilst Burgos makes up the top 10 in the rankings.

Emmett (15-2)

Josh Emmett is coming off impressive back-to-back knockouts and will fancy his chances at extending his short win-streak. The 35-year-old has shown great striking more recently and is less reliant on his wrestling and grappling. The Californian made his UFC debut in 2016 after remaining undefeated in multiple organisations. He has defeated the likes of Michael Johnson and most recently stopped Mirsad Bektic last July. The smaller man, Emmett is the slight underdog at 11/10* with Mark Jarvis.

Burgos (13-1)

Shane Burgos has made great strides in the division since debuting in the UFC in 2016. The 5ft 11in featherweight has just one defeat to his name, a third round TKO by Calvin Kattar in 2018. “Hurricane” has won all of his five other bouts in the UFC, defeating the likes of Cub Swanson and UFC Vegas 2 main card winner last week Charles Rosa. The 29-year-old has a boxing background and will look to keep the fight on the feet against a wrestler like Emmett. With a five-inch reach advantage, Burgos is a slight favourite at 7/10* with Mark Jarvis.
